Polygonal tiling of some surfaces containing fullerene molecules
A tiling of a surface is a decomposition of the surface into pieces, i.e. tiles, which cover it without gaps or overlaps. In this paper some special polygonal tiling of sphere, ellipsoid, cylinder, and torus as the most abundant shapes of fullerenes are investigated.
متن کاملInterpolated Measures with Bounded Density in Metric Spaces Satisfying the Curvature-dimension Conditions of Sturm
We construct geodesics in the Wasserstein space of probability measures along which all the measures have an upper bound on their density that is determined by the densities of the endpoints of the geodesic. Using these geodesics we show that a local Poincaré inequality and the measure contraction property follow from the Ricci curvature bounds defined by Sturm. We also show for a large class o...
متن کاملMinimal Surfaces of Least Total Curvature and Moduli Spaces of Plane Polygonal Arcs
Introduction. The rst major goal of this paper is to prove the existence of complete minimal surfaces of each genus p > 1 which minimize the total curvature (equivalently, the degree of the Gau map) for their genus. The genus zero version of these surfaces is known as Enneper's surface (see [Oss2]) and the genus one version is due to Chen-Gackstatter ([CG]). Recently, experimental evidence for ...
متن کاملSIMPLIPOLY: Curvature-based polygonal curve simplification
A curvature-based algorithm to simplify a polygonal curve is described, together with its implementation. The so-called SimpliPoly algorithm uses Bézier curves to approximate pieces of the input curve, and assign curvature estimates to vertices of the input polyline from curvature values computed for the Bézier approximations. The implementation of SimpliPoly is interactive and available freely...
متن کاملA Field Interpolated Texture Mapping Algorithm for Skeletal Implicit Surfaces
We address the problem of texture mapping implicit surfaces. Recent work in providing 2D mappings for implicit surfaces maps points from an auxiliary parametric (support) surface to the implicit surface. In this work we extend this method by observing that all commonly used skeletal elements are easily parameterized and can be used as their own support surfaces. In areas of a surface defined by...
